Last night around midnight we decided it was a WONDERFUL idea to lay the mosaic tiles on the bathroom floor... Jessica is still in bed, and I am in a fog. We didn't get home until around 3am. My phone started ringing at 6:50am (Mo- it was the stripper agent calling that early, can you believe it… she definitely works some odd hours.) Why we thought it was a good idea to start a tiling project at midnight when we are both sick, I can't explain! The great news, it looks better than we could have hoped for. One might say we are just a tad excited!
Other updates:
- Drywall should be done by the end of the week.
- Painting starts Friday night... Our social life sure has changed!
- Toilet in upper bathroom goes in this weekend. We picked up some nice dual flush toilets… thanks to the new stimulus bill we get to write 30% of any “green” features off.
- We totally changed the look/feel of the master suit a few days ago, we decided to expose the brick and use the old garage sliding doors! (Great for resale!)
- Cork floor instillation in the basement starts next Wednesday
- Ordering new door today... Check out this amazing website Andrea found us. http://www.crestviewdoors.com/default.html?uiid=classics
- MOVE IN NEXT WEEK!

Jessica finally blogs...
it has been 17 days since our house closed, that's it just a mere 17 days! however, considering all the work that has been done... it looks more like 2 months worth! we are developing all sorts of mad construction (or maybe de-construction) skills!
a few noteworthy items:
- Shane & Andrea are an amazing, talented duo that should be hired as construction, interior design consultants in any and every remodel/add-on situation... dynamite! and i think we might even have scored some new friends out of it!
- our electricians: JP & Dan are so amazing and efficient that other industry pros are not only impressed, but requesting their info for future projects!
- The Ericksons: Joe hooked us up with some serious internet, cable, phone wiring. Leann cleaned like hell even though the mess continued... thanks for your moral support too! Mo would have to receive the frequent flyer award... always checking out our progress and encouraging the entire time, even when it seems that we might never stop demoing and rip the house down to the foundation. ;-)
- pay plumbers by the project and electricians by the hour! And don't start serving beer until they are at 90% of completion! big smile!
- I need a crowbar of my own (hmm... maybe Shane won't notice if his is gone)! I'm sure I can use it everyday! It's my tool of choice, no doubt about it. Lyrica loves hammers, but for me it's all about the crowbar! love it!
- oh let's see... what else. well, I have to say Katy Cooper has been a trooper! he he! she is always down to help... just let that girl at some flooring that needs to be pried up! get 'er done!
- much thanks to the "tile gods"!!!
- super excited to have a taco wagon sooo close... it's a must and have saved our hungry tummies!
okay, that's it for now! i hope you all are enjoying our somewhat organized chaos!
ta-ta for now...

Week 1
- What we have learned in the first week:
- Hammers are great!
- How to turn water on in the house
- How to cut a burnt pizza without utensils
- There can never be enough hammers
- Goggles are very important when ripping down sheetrock
- Crowbars come in different sizes!
- We LOVE hammers
- Nails are dangerous when throwing things into the dumpster
- Lowes closes at 9pm
- We can rip down anything
- Gordy means Great!
- Mice make nests
- Lyrica was right about needing a dumpster
- There is such a thing as fake tile
- Chips ahoy cookies are Shane’s favorite
- Bud light and remodeling were made to be together
- Apparently it is hard to hit all muscle groups at the gym
- All you really need is a hammer
- If anything happens in our front yard we can ask the neighbors to rewind their video surveillance for us – True story!
- Doors are expensive
- Business calls should be taken outside while remodeling is taking place
- We need more hammers

3814 Renton Ave - Our new home
After almost three months of negotiations, wheeling and dealing, and frustrations... we have our house, sort of! We were granted access to the house yesterday (Saturday) at 6:30pm... by 7pm we were at the house in full demo-mode tearing down the ceiling in the basement and ripping up the carpet. We also baked our very first meal, which was an adventure by itself! Since we are such fabulous planners we had picked up a pizza from Costco for the big event... great planning except we didn't have a knife or pizza cutter, and the oven does not work properly and proceeded to BURN the pizza sending all of the smoke alarms off. By 11pm we had totally finished what we had set out to do. We were extremely dirty, proud and exhausted!
Tonight after my 12-6 open house (www.maisonjisellecondos.com) and Jessica gets off work we are heading back down there to clean out the garage. We need to rip off the ceiling in the garage so we can install a proper electric supply to garage door opener, expose pipes, and add insulation as the bedrooms above the garage are cold due to the lack of insulation. Jessica's uncle Gordy will be meeting us at the property on Tuesday to evaluate what is needed to update the plumbing throughout the house.
